Portal Terms of Use
Version 0.3 draft. Effective date to be confirmed on approval.
Who we are
Edge AI Skills is a learning and capability-development programme delivered through an online portal and associated activities.
The provider of the portal and the party entering into these Terms is Awaiting confirmation, referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”. Awaiting confirmation
You can contact the programme at hello@edgeaiskills.com. Our Privacy Notice identifies the organisation or organisations responsible for personal data; those responsibilities are distinct from the contractual identity set out here.
What these Terms cover
These Terms cover requests for access and authorised use of the portal, its learning materials, assessments, evidence tools and related support. The Acceptable Use Rules below form part of these Terms.
Your college, employer, sponsor or delivery organisation may have a separate programme agreement with us. That agreement does not give it unrestricted access to your personal information or evidence. These Terms do not replace your statutory rights.
Requests for organisational funding, sponsorship, commercial licences, additional delivery services or paid subscriptions require a separate agreement with an authorised representative. An individual’s acceptance of these Terms does not commit their organisation to a commercial purchase.
Requests, approval and verification
Submitting a request does not guarantee admission, a particular role or immediate portal access. We review requests against programme eligibility, safeguarding requirements, capacity and legitimate operational needs.
Provide accurate information and tell us about relevant changes. Do not impersonate another person or claim authority to represent an organisation without permission. We may verify an email address, organisation affiliation, tutor appointment or reviewer authorisation using proportionate checks.
Do not send identity documents, bank details, National Insurance numbers or sensitive personal histories through the registration form. If an exceptional check is necessary, we will explain why and provide a suitable secure route.
We will explain the outcome of your request and how to ask for a human review. We may limit the reasons disclosed where necessary to protect another person, security or a legal obligation.
Participation by younger learners
The initial proposed model is adult self-registration, with a separate approved route for learners aged 16 or 17 through a participating education or delivery organisation. Under-16 participation is outside this initial model unless a separately assessed and approved programme is introduced.
Before a younger learner receives access, we will confirm the appropriate participation arrangements, support contacts and safeguards. Where parental or guardian authorisation is needed, we will arrange it separately. We will not assume that a college can provide every form of consent on a learner’s behalf.
Young learners will receive age-appropriate information and participation rules. We do not rely on a child accepting adult commercial obligations or waiving legal rights. Awaiting confirmation
Younger learners’ profiles and evidence will be private by default. The initial supported route does not include unrestricted adult-to-learner private messaging, sponsor marketing or public learner directories. Any mentoring communication must use the approved supervised delivery arrangement.
Public portfolio sharing, external employer sharing, photographs and case studies involving a younger learner require the approved review and permissions process. A one-click learner action is not sufficient to bypass those arrangements. Declining publicity does not affect ordinary learning access.
We will check age restrictions for external AI services used in supported activities and offer a suitable alternative where needed. We will never ask a learner to misstate their age to access a tool.
If age is not confirmed, we will offer a proportionate private eligibility check rather than assuming adult status. Turning 18 does not automatically activate marketing, public sharing or wider access to personal information.
Accounts and access
Accounts are personal and must not be shared. Keep sign-in credentials confidential, use any required security measures and report suspected misuse promptly.
Access depends on your approved role, organisation, cohort and authorised activities. Approval as a partner, sponsor or employer does not provide general access to learner records. Administrator permissions are limited to authorised duties and may be monitored.
You must not bypass access controls, use another person’s session, export records without authority or attempt to access another cohort or organisation’s information.
Signing in confirms control of an account, not approval for every service. Operational access also depends on approval, the assigned role and any required participation safeguards. Legal information, support and privacy-rights routes remain available if your access is pending or restricted.
Learning, assessment and recognition
The programme supports practical capability, responsible AI use and progression. Participation does not guarantee employment, promotion, funding, a particular income or protection against job loss.
Completion requirements and the meaning of any certificate, badge or recognition will be stated for the relevant pathway. Do not describe programme recognition as an accredited qualification, apprenticeship completion or professional authorisation unless expressly identified as such.
Submit work honestly and identify material assistance from AI, collaborators or external sources where the activity requires it. Do not fabricate evidence or misrepresent another person’s work as your own. You may ask for an explanation and human review of an assessment decision through the published review process.
Responsible AI and third-party services
AI-generated outputs can be inaccurate, biased or unsuitable. Check important outputs against reliable evidence and apply human judgement before using them. Programme material is educational and is not a substitute for qualified legal, medical, financial or other regulated advice.
Do not enter personal, confidential, commercially restricted or safeguarding information into an external AI tool unless that use has been specifically authorised and the required protections are in place. Use synthetic or appropriately anonymised examples wherever possible.
Links and recommendations are not a warranty that a third-party service is suitable for every user or purpose. External services have their own eligibility rules, terms, privacy practices and possible charges. We will identify any material commercial relationship attached to a recommendation. Do not assume that an external account is compulsory unless the activity clearly states this and provides an appropriate supported route.
Acceptable Use Rules
You must use the programme respectfully, lawfully and for authorised purposes. In particular, you must not
Harass, discriminate against, threaten, exploit or abuse another person.
Upload unlawful material, malware, material infringing another person’s rights or information you are not authorised to disclose.
Publish personal contact details, safeguarding information or identifiable client, resident, customer or patient information in a learning submission.
Use evidence access to build marketing lists, screen people for unrelated opportunities or contact learners outside the approved arrangements.
Scrape the portal, resell its contents, share restricted tutor materials or use portal content to train external AI models without written permission.
Attempt to defeat security, manipulate assessment results or falsely claim programme endorsement.
Record sessions, capture another participant’s image or publish their contribution without the necessary permissions.
Tell the programme team if you encounter unsafe conduct, inappropriate content or an accidental disclosure. The portal is not an emergency service. In an immediate emergency, contact the emergency services.
Your work and our materials
You retain any rights you hold in your original submissions, subject to the rights of your employer, collaborators or other rights holders. You must have permission to upload and share the material.
You grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, display and make technically necessary adaptations to your submissions solely to operate the service, provide authorised assessment and feedback, support your chosen sharing and meet legitimate record-keeping requirements described in the Privacy Notice. Access by suppliers must be limited to those purposes.
This licence does not authorise selling your work, publishing identifiable case studies, using it in advertising or training general-purpose AI models. Any such proposed use requires a separate rights and privacy assessment and any necessary permission.
We and our licensors retain rights in programme materials, branding and platform content. You may use materials made available to your role for the permitted learning or delivery activity. Wider distribution, commercial reuse or republication requires written permission or a separate licence.
Evidence and sharing
Your portfolio is not public by default. Assigned tutors or assessors may access the information necessary for the learning activity, as explained in the Privacy Notice.
Optional employer or partner sharing must identify the recipient, purpose and material to be shared. Refusing optional sharing will not remove your basic learning access. Withdrawing access stops future portal access, but cannot undo lawful actions already taken or retrieve copies already legitimately downloaded. We will explain any necessary recipient retention before sharing.
Sponsors receive anonymised or suitably aggregated reporting by default, not access to named learner records. Organisations must not use assessment or evidence access for unrelated recruitment, marketing or employment decisions.
Proof-of-concept operation and charges
During the proof of concept, features and delivery arrangements may evolve. We will exercise reasonable care and skill, explain material limitations and provide reasonable notice of planned changes that affect participation.
A request for access does not itself create a fee obligation. Any charge, minimum term, renewal, cancellation arrangement or paid additional service must be clearly disclosed and separately agreed before purchase. These Terms do not authorise automatic conversion into a paid subscription.
We will explain how learners can obtain a copy of their evidence and what happens to accounts and records when a cohort or pilot ends.
Suspension, closure and review
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a security incident, safeguarding concern, material misuse, ineligible access or a legal requirement. Where safe and appropriate, we will explain the issue and allow you to respond or correct it.
Urgent temporary restrictions may be imposed before a review where delay could cause harm. You may request a human review by contacting the programme team. We will consider reasonable adjustments and avoid disproportionate consequences.
You may ask to close your account. Closure does not automatically require immediate deletion of every record; the Privacy Notice explains retention, legal obligations and your rights. Where appropriate, we will offer an evidence export before closure.
Responsibility and legal rights
We are responsible for providing the services we have agreed with reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer or data-protection rights.
Where you participate as a consumer, we remain responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the contract was made, except where the law provides otherwise.
Any business-specific allocation of liability must be set out in the relevant separately negotiated organisational agreement. There is no blanket zero-liability rule merely because participation is funded by another organisation or offered without charge.
Changes and complaints
We may update these Terms for legal, security or genuine service changes. Material changes will be explained in advance where reasonably possible and fresh acceptance obtained where required. Changes will not retrospectively authorise a new use of your work or personal data.
Send service complaints, access-review requests or assessment concerns to hello@edgeaiskills.com. We aim to acknowledge service complaints within five working days and provide an outcome or progress update within 20 working days. Data-protection complaints follow the separate process in the Privacy Notice.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right a consumer has to bring proceedings in the courts of their home jurisdiction and to benefit from mandatory protections applicable there.
